AC Transit

Agency
East Bay Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)

Location
FTA Region IX

The SSGA project was a 9.5-mile BRT route between downtown Oakland and San Leandro, CA featuring transit-only lanes for 85% of the corridor. Extensive roadway reconstruction and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) enhancements (e.g.-traffic signal priority) were implemented throughout the BRT corridor to optimize traffic flow. There were 49 new BRT stations constructed in the corridor, including bus shelters, level boarding platforms, benches, security technologies, layover facilities and automated fare collection machines. New low-floor, low-emission, 60-ft articulated BRT buses were deployed to serve over 24,000 passengers per day.
As PMOC, KKCS helped the sponsor proactively identify and mitigate risks to effectively address them in a timely manner and successfully deliver the BRT project within the project budget limits.
