The RHBRT Project is a 7.4-mile fixed guideway BRT project along the Richmond Highway corridor from the terminus of the WMATA Yellow Line at Huntington Station to Fort Belvoir, a major U.S. Army installation in Fairfax County (VA). The RHBRT Project is being sponsored by the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) and includes the construction of new BRT-dedicated median lanes, a new fleet of 60-foot articulated electric buses, nine new BRT stations, roadway widening, new sidewalks, pedestrian access improvements, and new bicycle facilities. The project also includes improvements to the existing WMATA bus storage and maintenance facility. The total estimated project cost is $937 million and FCDOT is seeking 49% ($460 million) in New Starts funding.
